Grand Forks, ND – Crews will begin the construction project at the 42^nd St. and Demers Ave. Intersection on Monday, April 20, 2026.  The initial phase of this underpass project will have minimal impacts to traffic on both 42^nd St. and Demers Ave.

Larger impacts to traffic will occur later in summer 2026.  An additional news release will be sent out prior to those larger traffic impacts.

This is the beginning of a 2 year project that will result in 42^nd St. having an underpass under both Demers Ave. and the railroad crossing.

• Take the Demers Avenue exit and take a right onto Demers Avenue.
• From there you will travel east until you run into S. 42nd Street.
• Take a right onto S. 42nd St. and head south
• Alerus Center will be on your right.

• Take the Demers Avenue exit and take a right onto Demers Avenue.
• Travel east until S. 42nd St.
• Take a right on S. 42nd St. and head south
• Alerus Center will be on your right.

• Highway 2 turns into Gateway Drive. Follow Gateway Drive until S. 42nd St.
• Take a right on N. 42nd St. and travel south, crossing Demers Avenue.
• Continue south on S. 42nd St.
• Alerus Center is on your right.

• Highway 2 turns into Gateway Drive. Follow Gateway Drive until S. 42nd St.
• Take a left on S. 42nd St. and travel south, crossing Demers Avenue.
• Continue south on S. 42nd St.
• Alerus Center is on your right.
